Gunmen killed a civilian in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday night, the latest in a series of attacks in the city by Al-Shabaab militant group.

Eyewitnesses confirmed to Radio Shabelle via phone that two men armed with pistols have shot and killed a young man and fled the crime scene before police arrived.

The murder took place at Hosh junction in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district and no group has claimed responsibility for the apparent assassination.

Al-Shabab, an Al Qaeda ally in East Africa has been waging an insurgency in the Horn of Africa country for more than 10 years trying to oust the UN-backed Somali government.
