Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali returned to Bosaso port town on Friday after spending a month in Saudi Arabia, for Hajj – the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

Ali was welcomed by government officials upon arrival at Bosaso’s International Airport. President Abdiweli has also paid a visit to UAE, where he held talks with top officials.

Briefing to the media on his trip to Dubai, President Ali said UAE has pledged to step up its developments projects in Puntland, and boost the economic infrastructure.

“UAE will continue its commitment to implement development projects in Puntland, and now it is mulling to construct highways in the region,” said Puntland leader, Abdiweli Gaas.

Puntland located in northeastern Somalia has been relatively stable compared to southern regions, and it has made remarkable developments, including good governance and security.
