A lawmaker from Hirshabelle regional assembly has been killed in a car bomb explosion that occurred in Mogadishu on Thursday, security sources confirm.

The car bomb was fitted under the car of the late MP identified as Abdiweli Mohamed Ibrahim occurred at London gate restaurant at Hamarweyne district in Mogadishu.

Reports indicate that two other people including a person who was on board of the car with the late MP and a worker of the restaurant sustained injuries during the blast.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack but Al-shabab is often blamed of behind such attacks targeted with lawmakers, security forces and government officials.
