A suspected unmanned US aircraft carried out an airstrike in Lower Shabelle region of Southern Somalia on Tuesday, the first raid in the beginning of the new year.

Sources said the airstrike struck a vehicle ferrying 10 people. It’s not clear who were the occupants of the bus traveling on the outskirts of Awdhegle controlled by Al Shabaab.

The details of the casualties remain sketchy. The local administration did not respond to a Radio Shabelle request for comment on the attack.

Al Shabaab is yet to release a statement regarding the reported airstrike.
